The purpose of this lesson is to make students aware of how fat is distributed in the body and the role that fat plays in our health.
Fat is a necessary part of our body’s make-up. It is used for energy storage, transport of vitamins, protection for vital organs; insulation and proper brain function to name a few. There is also a downside to fat; having too much fat in our bodies can lead to a variety of health problems such as diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Studies have shown a correlation between certain health problems and the way fat is distributed in our bodies.
