Activity 1B: Historical Context of My Older Friend

Students will do a math activity to determine what year their Older Friend would have been the same age as the students are today. Students will be provided with a list of basic historic events, including the Presidents serving during the 1900s. Students should research the major events occurring when their older friend was an adolescent. The extent of this research can be determined by the individual teacher. (Suggestions: videos, mini-lectures, textbook readings, etc.) (See "Historical Context" sheet for possible research topics.) Teacher may wish to also include information based on subject area being taught.
