Activity 3F: So What If You're Distracted?

So What? Class discussion. Now that you understand some characteristics of short-term memory, how can you apply this knowledge to studying for school. What kind of distractions may occur when you are studying? (phone ringing, music, TV, siblings, parents, pets, etc.) Will you remember what you are studying if you are distracted with interruptions? Short-term memory only holds 5-9 items at a time. Do you think it would be better to study for one hour straight or to study for 30 minutes, take a break, and study for 30 more minutes?
