Activity 5A: Turn Off the Lights! Taking Action on Light Pollution

Light pollution, which refers to the over illumination of the night sky caused by artificial light, is a world-wide epidemic with far reaching consequences. Students will take on the role of detectives as they investigate how light pollution impacts their world. They will use their knowledge to create presentations highlighting their findings as well as innovative solutions to address their targeted issue. 

  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources
  • Evaluate a problem and develop possible solutions
  • Work cooperatively to prepare a presentation of findings
  • Research causes and impacts of light pollution to develop a definition of light pollution
