Unit Objectives

Students will:

  • convert statistics on population growth to percentages
  • gain a historical understanding of changes in longevity
  • predict life expectancy in the future based on current life span data
  • translate population information from graphs to maps
  • analyze population information to draw conclusions on aging populations
  • interpret population pyramids in order to make generalizations about the growth of the aging population in our society
  • synthesize information concerning the aging population
  • create a product or service to meet the needs of the aging population
