Unit Objectives
Students will be able to:
measure how changes in force may affect the amount of extension (stretch) in an elastic body
apply the principle of elasticity to human blood vessels
analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the heart model and blood vessel model
calculate and graph the velocity of blood flow
compare the velocity of blood flow in a healthy blood vessel vs. a blood vessel with a stenosis
predict what effect a stenosis has on blood vessels and the body over time
infer the effects of atherosclerosis on blood flow
analyze the effect of changes in pressure and volume on compliance
infer what happens to blood pressure when blood vessels are not compliant
identify risk factors for developing atherosclerosis
iInvestigate the effect of health choices on the progression and regression of atherosclerosis
