Introduction

Lesson 4, “Mean, Median, Mode, and Range,” teaches students about these descriptive statistical concepts. Students calculate these values by hand from a small data set of 20 observations and graph them. The students then repeat the activity using the computer spreadsheets.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • find the mean, median, mode and range of a given set
  • construct a graph of the mean, median, mode and range of a given set
  • use the computer to check their accuracy
