Activity Management Suggestions
Assign students to work in groups of four.
Have them “number off” by calling out 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Tell students to remember the group to which they belong, because they will return to this group as an “expert” about research they will do with other partners.
Assign new groups of 4 consisting of only students who called “1”– these groups will research the Lunestra™ website.
Assign new groups of 4 consisting on only students who called “2”– these groups will research the Sonata™ website.
Assign new groups of 4 consisting on only students who called “3”– these groups will research the AmbienCR™ website.
Assign new groups of 4 consisting on only students who called “4”– these groups will research the Sleep Education website.
After the groups complete their research, they should review it to be sure each student can go back to their original group and explain the information to new group members.
Have students return to the original group and discuss each of the four website.
Conduct a whole-class discussion of the four websites, combining all group ideas into a large graphic organizer on the board or overhead projector.
Modifications
Students may do the website activity independently, by investigating one or more of the websites and completing data sheets on them. Monitor students needing special assistance carefully to reduce frustration.
