In groups, have students compare and contrast the two older characters from the two children's literature books. Each group should be assigned a different attribute to compare and contrast (e.g., physical characteristics, behavior). Students should use a Venn diagram, to compare and contrast. It is suggested that group answers be recorded on a large poster board or piece of butcher paper. An example Compare and Contrast Activity Sheet using a Venn diagram is included. (See Compare and Contrast 1.) The teacher can use a transparency to show an example of how the diagram is to be used.
Students should share answers and/or display completed Venn diagrams prior to completing Activity 5D.
